Looking for vegan, cruelty free products is something that has become really important to me, and a few times recently I have slipped up and felt sad that I had not researched the brand properly before I purchased their product. In 2013 the EU made it illegal to sell animal-tested cosmetics in Europe, even if the testing was done outside Europe. So why aren’t all beauty brands are considered cruelty-free? Any company that still sells in countries where this law does not apply may be carrying out or commissioning tests on animals, even if the products you are personally buying are cruelty free. Therefore it’s important to double-check before buying.
What is PETA?
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is the largest animal rights organisation in the world, with more than 6.5 million members and supporters. They focus their attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: in the food industry, in the clothing trade, in laboratories, and in the entertainment industry. Free of charge, the “PETA-Approved Vegan” (PAV) logo may be used on products labels and tags, promo material, social media, websites ect as long as the product is vegan. This is a great way to identify which products are vegan at a glance while shopping. Here are my favourite tried and tested PETA approved cosmetic brands, and my favourite products that they sell!
Aveda
Aveda is a leading botanical hair and skin care brand. They are owned by estee lauder, however do not sell in china and so are PETA approved as cruelty free! They base their products on the science of Ayurveda so everything is very aromatic, and luxurious. My fav Aveda products are :
Aveda Chakra Balancing Body Sprays
Just the most incredible balancing aromatic sprays ever. Each Chakra mist represents a channel of energy, and is designed to balance you. I find that I just pick whatever smell resonates with me most at the time!
Aveda Protective Hair Veil
Lightweight, water-resistant and UV defense! This is a great product if you spend alot of time in the sun and your hair is prone to getting dry and sun damaged ( our hair needs protection too and love too!! )
Lush
Mask of Magnaminty
This one is MY ULTIMATE fav for acne prone skin. It feels incredible when applied, especially if you keep it in the fridge! super soothing, and a great one when you’ve had a breakout before bed, or in the morning when you want to calm the skin before the day.
The Body Shop
This body scrub is insane! Smells amazing, and leaves your skin feeling fresh, soft and hydrated! Actually, all of the Spa of The World range by the Body Shop is Incredible.

Seaweed Pore-Cleansing Exfoliator
Another range I love by The Body Shop is the Seaweed range. I particularly love the exfoliator! I tend to only exfoliate when I need to, so this product lasts me ages, and it really does feel amazing, and I do notice that my skin looks less textures and more fresh when I’ve used it. Perfect for acne prone skin!

Dermalogica
Dermalogica are a really nice brand. Recently I have changed my skincare routine to solely Dermalogica to see if it has much of an affect, and it has been working for sure! I will do a write up on this soon for you, but the products I use come as a set in the Medibac Clearing Skin Kit. It contains a cleanser, masque, lotion and overnight gel which is everything you need for a simple and effective skincare routine. In particular I love the cleanser, and I have always really struggled to find one that is perfect for me! I switch up my routine quite often as sometimes our skin changes with the products and then they are not as effective. This however is one of the products that I always go back to.
MediBac Clearing Skin Kit
Arbonne
Well, I just LOVE Arbonne! When you feel like a real treat this brand covers everything you need! Their skincare is beautiful, along with their bath and body products and their nutrition packs. They are online exclusive so in my opinion quite unknown, but they have a great range of Vegan and cruelty products.
