Well well, I somehow have found myself back in Bali again(shocker). It’s funny how sometimes you just get a gut feeling, or a ‘calling’ to be somewhere. I love Bali so much, so when the universe was giving me a nudge, I let it push me all the way to Bali. I’ve settled in, and after a day of being extremely lazy yesterday and doing not much more than eating and wandering to the market, today is all about productivity and…Sun bathing! Only 3 weeks of the Australian winter and my body is calling for vitamin D; it’s definitely confirmed that I’m an absolute sun baby!
This morning was an early start, peeling myself out of bed at sunrise for Beach Bootcamp! What a great way to start the day…a burning chest from months of no cardio and two servings of major jelly legs. My oh my, isn’t running on sand absolute torture! Anyway, I just about made it through the 90 minutes of circuits on the sand and finished my sweaty morning with a quick swim in the sea. Next on the agenda…FOOD. If there’s one thing about this little island that I love it’s the munch! Especially since being vegan there is so much choice here and it’s so easy to eat healthy and fresh ( and cheap). I headed ASAP to one of my fav joints ‘The Avocado factory’ for some well deserved brekki. I’ve made a loose promise to myself that I’ll try something new each time I go somewhere twice, so I opted for the Avocado Tofu Salad which I hadn’t tried before and it was delish to say the least! Like mentioned in previous posts I’m making more of an effort to eat a macrobiotic diet for skin benefits, and this was a perfect pick to keep within in the diet.

After fuelling up, I headed to ‘The Lawn’ in Canggu. Not only is this place beyond gorgeous, it is right on the beach and you can get the best sunbathing spots with all day sunshine. The name gives away the idea, but basically this beach club is set up like an upmarket picnic area, with basket cushions and woven mats on a beautiful lawn space. At the front is a infinity pool with a pool bar over looking the beach, and to the side is a two story dining area for a sit down meal. The menu is wonderful, and so are the drinks!! What I love about it here is that you can get a lovely sunny spot for no minimum spend as long as you arrive early enough and the space is available! So, if you’re a cheapo like me and hate the sand going EVERYWHERE, then it’s perfect for a low budget and very aesthetically pleasing chill sesh! If you don’t mind spending however, you can have a day full of eating and drinking cocktails in the pool or you can even hire a day bed for a minimum spend of 1000000rp. For me, it was only a few hours until I had enough sun for the day!

Now a new, slightly healthier looking, sun kissed version of myself; I made my way to a cute roadside spot near home called Copenhagen. I was still super full from my breakfast so am yet to try the food there but hear that it’s delish! It was just a Kombucha for me today, one of my other favourite things about Bali. If you haven’t heard of Kombucha, it’s basically a fermented, probiotic, (sometimes sparkling) herbal tea, with lots of health benefits and choice of flavours! I love it and its nice to drink something sweet and sparkling that is healthy ( and sometimes it makes me feel drunk ). I enjoyed my Kombucha, and caught up on my writing for the day.

Before I knew it, it was time for Yoga. I thought I would try out this new Yoga/fitness joint, just opposite Pretty Poison called Odyssey MVMT. The space there is gorgeous and the class I visited at 5.30pm, meant the sun set during practice. As the space is pretty new, I was lucky enough to have a private vinyasa class, and it was such a beautiful energy! Will definitely be going back for more! I haven’t done a proper flow with a teacher in a few weeks, and just having someone guide you so that you can really get into your breath is so wonderful and makes practice so much deeper. I will be writing a post about Odyssey MVMT so stay tuned if you are in the Canggu area.
After Yoga I head to Bali Buda (another must) , to get my favourite…Gado Gado. This dish is basically a warm Indonesian salad. It’s made up of different steamed green vegetables and hard-boiled eggs, boiled potato, fried tofu and tempeh, and lontong (rice wrapped in a banana leaf), served with a peanut sauce dressing. You can obviously have it without the egg so that its vegan, and I have it with brown or red rice so that it is more macrobiotic friendly! What a nice way to end the day!
